Are you ready to explore, flow and move out of your comfort zone? We welcome you to join us on a very unforgettable experience at The Birdhouse on Palawan island, Philippines.

During this retreat you will stay on luxury suite tents on large stilt platforms with a private bathroom sharing with 3-4 persons. This is not an accommodation, IT IS AN EXPERIENCE! Think about living like birds with striking scenery from above. Nothing can beat that.

Located 100 meters from the beach and only minutes away neighboring island, The Birdhouse is the perfect getaway for you.

Experience all the island hopping, diving and nature adventures with the joy of practicing yoga and MOVMEANT flow together with Tamara Livingston aka Cuchira and Edna Reyes Malaki. This is perfect opportunity for you to venture off the beaten path for 5 days to unwind, to have a ‘me time’, move on a non-judgement zone and just BE YOU.’

 

About the Teachers:

PICTURE -Tamara has always used movement as a source of self care, even as a child. It’s therapeutic-like tendencies combined with a creative outlet, invite an inner cleansing like no other form of expression. Being a feisty little scorpio, movement was always available to her as “medicine”, no matter the space, money or time and she has embraced her calling to share it’s magic with the world. Noticing a lack of safe space to move free, Tamara decided to redirect her more technical movement based classes towards soul searching free movement. The effects of this euphoric practice are felt instantly! Students leave classes feeling refreshed, energized and inspired! No one can deny the mind blowing power of MovMEANT medicine! This practice provides a non judgment zone to be YOU, be boldly unapologetic and speak through whatever means necessary to release your inner toxins and confront your fears. Tamara has forged ahead sharing her guided free movement throughout the world and couldn’t feel more fulfilled and inspired.

 

PICTURE - Edna started her yoga practice march 2014. She moved to Norway more than a decade ago. After years of home practicing, she followed her heart and took a Yoga Teachers Training in Spain. She believes that yoga practice can be beneficial for anyone, regardless of gender, age, religion, health status, or "flexibility." Yoga has been a grounding and uplifting force in her own life, and for this she is grateful each day. Yoga is not only her asana practice, but the way she lives her life. As both a teacher and student, she is constantly reminded of all that she still hopes to learn.

  • Departure from Manila before lunch.

(Travel time approx. 1 hour and 15 minutes to El Nido, Palawan and additional 35 minutes to The Birdhouse  . Infos will be given if there are changes to the time schedule of the flights. We advice that you arrived in Manila early morning or the day before.)

  • Settling in. Snacks.

About Tamara’s Movmeant class:

“Your body is your subconscious mind.” – Dr. Candace Pert.

Emotional memory is stored in the mind-body. It lives within every crevice of our being. MovMeant releases the mind-body of stored trauma to bring forth healing through a felt sense creative process. Not all feelings can be expressed verbally. MovMeant supplies a safe space to explore our emotional landscape by physically moving our way through the storm. The body constantly gives us subtle cues. Many of us are aware of external or verbal signs but unfortunately we quickly dismiss our powerful intuitive nature. MovMeant will guide you towards reconnecting body-mind-spirit by using various movement practices, explorative exercises, vocalization, breath and playful imagination to assist in your self-love journey towards a more peacefully connected you.

 

 

About Edna’s Classes:

 

ABC of Headstanding

We will focus on the strength required to invert (go upside down).
Headstand (Salamba Sirsasana) will be covered on the workshop. You will be guided through alignment, techniques, proper modifications, and feel how to develop the power in your core strength. Inversions can be off putting for some, but this workshop will demystify them and help build confidence and understanding.
NO INVERSION EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY. THIS IS WHERE YOU COME TO LEARN.

 

Core to Grow To Glow

This is an all level class. You will be guided through alignment, techniques and feel how to develop the power in your core strength. Crow Pose is an arm balance with a wide variety of health benefits and believe to be the GATEWAY to all armbalances. We will explore and work on different transitions entering to and exiting from your CROW.

 

Open Heart

Backbending is one of the most challenging categories of yoga posture for many practitioners. Fear and a desire to avoid them are a common experience for many. Heart openers are great for the nervous system and the body to develop their full range of strength and opening necessary for a balanced internal experience. Backbending teaches us to be more patient with ourselves and offer valuable lessons such as discipline and care. 

In this workshop we will examine techniques for practicing backbends. We will explore the balance between the effort and surrender in back-bending by putting together a sequence to lengthen the front side of the body, upper-back, and hips in order to free the spine, strengthening and working from the legs and the core to create stability within the poses and just LET GO. This is open for students of all levels who have had some basic exposure to any form of yoga.

Beyoutiful Project by Movmeant and The YogiLab - June 25,2018

A fund Raising Project to help kids and families in the slum areas inside and outside Manila, Philippines. Part of the proceeds of our workshop will be going to this project. Along with local doctors and dentist, help us gather funds to be able to donate food and medicines.

Plans:

  • Donating food, necessity essentials and medicines.
  • Free dance lessons for the children and adults with Cuchira.
  • Free check ups with our doctors and dentists for kids and adults.
